Language in Biodanza

This book is devoted to Biodanza, a system based on the integrative vivencias induced by dance, music, singing and situations of encounter in a group, where vivencia is an experience lived by an individual with great intensity in the present moment, which includes emotional, cenesthetic and organic functions. The aim of this book is to show the maximum breadth of linguistic aspects related to Biodanza, to present the possibilities that Biodanza offers in the field of language education, to highlight its linguistic specificities and to outline the possibilities for further research of the language in Biodanza. The book is divided into a theoretical and a research part, with the theoretical part summarizing ideas related to the linguistic aspects of Biodanza that can be found in the work of the founder of this system – who is the Chilean educator, psychologist and anthropologist Rolando Toro Araneda – and his followers. The linguistic portfolio of Biodanza and the linguistic aspects in the three essential areas of verbal communication in Biodanza, which are silence or the absence of language, spoken language and written language, are described in detail. The research part of this book then looks at areas related to both the absence of language and spoken and written language in Biodanza in an attempt to answer the basic research question: What is the potential of language in Biodanza?
